John E. Smith is Clark Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Yale University. He has a B.S. from Union Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He is a former President of the American Philosophical Association (Eastern Division) and the American Theological Society. His books include The Spirit of American Philosophy and Experience and God.
